Compression Reducing Elbow 22mm to 28mm

The Compression Reducing Elbow joins two pipes of different sizes at 90 degrees using nuts and olives, and we stock it in 22mm x 15mm and 28mm x 22mm. It suits plumbers and DIYers who need a bend and a size change in a spot where a blowtorch is a bad idea.

Where it goes

Use it where a 22mm main turns and drops to 15mm for a sink or radiator, or where a 28mm run turns down to 22mm. It can be taken apart later if the pipework needs altered.

• 28mm x 22mm for turning 28mm pipe down to 22mm

Fitting tips

Cut the pipe square and take the burr off inside and out. Slide on the nut, then the olive, and push the pipe hard against the stop in the body. Tighten by hand, then about a turn more with a spanner while holding the body with a second spanner. On plastic pipe, always fit the correct insert first.

Common Questions

Can I use a compression reducing elbow on plastic pipe?

Yes, as long as a pipe insert goes into the plastic first. Without one, the olive squashes the pipe and the joint will leak or pull apart.

Should I put sealant on the olive?

A wipe of jointing compound helps on old or marked pipe. Clean new copper normally seals dry.

Can I reuse the fitting?

The body and nut can be used again. The olive grips the pipe, so cut it off and fit a new one when the joint is remade.
