To screw copper pipe straight into a female socket, reach for a Compression Male Iron Coupler. It is a straight adaptor with a nut and olive at one end and a male iron thread at the other, so it turns the pipe into a threaded tail.
Where the Compression Male Iron Coupler fits in
Common jobs include connecting to a valve with female ends, a cylinder boss, a pump valve or a threaded manifold. The size is written pipe first, then thread. 15mm x 1/2″ and 22mm x 3/4″ are the everyday sizes. Other combinations, for example 15mm x 3/4″ or 22mm x 1″, let you step between pipe and thread sizes without an extra reducer.
Make the threaded joint first, sealed with PTFE tape or jointing compound. Then fit the pipe and tighten the nut while holding the body with a second spanner.

Common Questions
What does ‘iron’ mean in male iron coupler?
It refers to the male pipe thread on one end, the type used on iron and steel pipe and on valve and fitting sockets. It does not mean the fitting is made of iron.
Can I use a male iron coupler to connect to old steel pipe?
Yes, through a female socket or fitting on the steel pipe with the same thread size. Clean the old thread well before sealing it.
Is a male iron coupler the same as a tank connector?
No. A tank connector has a backnut and washers to clamp through a tank wall, while this coupler screws into a threaded socket.
