Copper Pipe Coil 8mm x 25m, classic soft annealed microbore for running radiators from a manifold. Tube to BS EN 1057 with a 0.6mm wall that bends by hand, taking 8mm compression fittings and radiator valves with 8mm tails or reducing sets. Collect it from our Glasgow shop at 555 South Street G14 0QX.

Description

The Copper Pipe Coil 8mm x 25m is classic microbore heating tube, a full coil for heating engineers running from a manifold to several radiators, the size found under the floorboards of countless UK homes.

At 8mm the tube threads easily between joists and along skirting, which is why microbore became popular in houses where lifting floors was a chore. It suits small to medium radiators on shorter runs; for larger radiators or long runs, 10mm is the safer choice. The copper is soft annealed with a 0.6mm wall, so it bends by hand or with a microbore bender. Pair it with a microbore manifold, 8mm compression couplers and elbows, and radiator valves with 8mm tails or reducing sets.

Uncoil it by rolling along the floor, never by yanking the free end. Use a small tube cutter, as a hacksaw crushes 8mm tube, and size the end round again before fitting. Do not overtighten compression nuts on soft microbore, or the olive bites too deep. Shorter coils are in our copper coil range, next to the Copper Pipe Coil 8mm x 25m.

Common Questions

Is 8mm microbore big enough for my radiator? For small and medium radiators on short runs, usually yes. Bigger radiators or longer runs are better on 10mm, so check the heat load.

How tight should compression nuts be on 8mm? Hand tight, then a modest turn with a spanner. Soft thin tube squashes if the nut is pushed too far.

Can I mix 8mm and 10mm on one system? Yes, many systems do, using reducers or reducing sets at the valves. Just make sure each fitting matches the pipe it goes on.

You can collect from 555 South Street, Glasgow G14 0QX, or order online. We open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat-Sun 8am-1pm.
