Danfoss Motorised Valve 2 Port and 3 Port 15mm to 28mm

The Danfoss Motorised Valve controls the flow to heating and hot water when the programmer or thermostat calls for it. We sell the HP22 and HP28 2 port valves in 22mm and 28mm (shoe type, or paddle type B), the HS3 and HS3B 3 port mid position valves in 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 3/4 inch BSP and 1 inch BSP, the HPA2, HPA2C, HSA3 and HSA3D actuator heads, and the HPV22 2 port body on its own.

The HP22 is spring return, so it shuts when the power is off. The 3 port valves sit where the flow splits on a Y plan system and send water to heating, hot water or both. Danfoss make two body types: the HS3 has a rotary shoe and the HS3B ones have a paddle, so match the code on your old body when you only need a part. The heads lift off the body without draining the system, and the C head has a changeover switch, while the D head is for a diverter valve.

The valve runs on mains voltage. Isolate the supply and wire it to the system diagram, or have a competent heating engineer do it.

Do I need a 2 port or a 3 port valve?

Go by the system you have. Separate valves on the heating and hot water legs is an S plan, so 2 port. One valve where the flow splits is a Y plan, so 3 port mid position.

What is the difference between HS3 and HS3B?

Danfoss use a rotary shoe inside the HS3 and a paddle inside the B models. Both are 3 port mid position valves, but the heads and bodies are matched, so go by the code on the old valve.
