The Double Check Female Brass Valve DZR lets water through in one direction only, with two check stages in series. Both ends have a female thread, and the body is DZR brass for good resistance to dezincification.
Using a Double Check Female Brass Valve DZR
Water regulations ask for backflow protection wherever there is a risk of dirty water being drawn back into the mains. Typical places include feeds to outside taps, filling loops, some appliances and process equipment. The female threads make it easy to fit onto threaded pipework, valve tails or male adaptors on copper.
- Sizes: 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″
- Female thread on both ends
- DZR brass body
- Two check stages, arrow shows flow direction
Tape or paste the male threads, using a product that suits drinking water. Match the cast arrow to the direction of flow, because a check valve fitted backwards will stop the supply completely. Put it somewhere you can reach for servicing, and flush the pipe first so grit does not lodge in the seats. More valves are in valves and control devices.

Common Questions
What is a double check valve for?
It stops water flowing back from an appliance or outlet into the drinking supply. Two checks in series give a backup if one does not seal.
Where is a double check valve needed?
Water rules call for backflow protection on things like outside taps, some appliances and filling loops. The level of protection depends on the risk, so check before you fit.
Which way round does it fit?
Follow the cast arrow, which shows the flow direction. Put in back to front, it blocks the supply completely.
