When a soldered pipe has to finish in a female thread at a right angle, use an End Feed Female Elbow. One end takes copper pipe and is soldered, and the other end is a female threaded socket at 90 degrees.
Where the End Feed Female Elbow is used
It is common where a male threaded valve, drain cock or appliance connector has to screw in close to a wall or floor. Go for 15mm x 1/2″ on small domestic valves and fittings, 22mm x 3/4″ where a pump or bigger valve sits, and 28mm x 1″ on larger supplies.
Solder the pipe joint first and let it cool. Then tape the male fitting and screw it home. If you need to tighten a threaded part while the elbow is on the pipe, hold the elbow with a spanner, so the solder joint does not get twisted.

Common Questions
End Feed female elbow: how do I avoid twisting the soldered joint?
Hold the elbow with a spanner while you tighten anything into its thread, so the twist goes into the spanner, not the solder joint.
Which size for a pump valve on 22mm pipe?
Check the male thread on the valve. A 3/4″ thread on 22mm pipe takes the 22mm x 3/4″.
Can I solder it with the threaded part already in?
Better not. Heat cooks thread sealant, so solder first and fit the threaded part once cool.
