An End Feed Bent Cylinder Union takes copper pipe off a 1″ cylinder tapping at 90 degrees, in 22mm x 1″ and 28mm x 1″. The union lets you break the joint later. Collect in Glasgow.

The End Feed Bent Cylinder Union connects soldered copper pipe to a 1″ female threaded socket on a hot water cylinder at a right angle, in 22mm x 1″ and 28mm x 1″. Plumbers fit it on the flow, return and draw off tappings of vented cylinders.
Where it goes
The male thread screws into the cylinder boss and the bend turns the pipe up or across straight away. The union nut in the middle lets you split the joint to drain down or change the cylinder without cutting the pipe.

- 22mm x 1″ for 22mm copper into a 1 inch boss
- 28mm x 1″ for 28mm copper into a 1 inch boss
Fitting tips
Seal the male thread with PTFE tape or a suitable thread sealant and screw the tail in before any soldering, so you do not cook the cylinder. Undo the union, solder the pipe to the loose half away from the cylinder if you can, and let it cool. Then line up and tighten the union nut while holding the body steady.

Common Questions
Why use a union on a cylinder?
It lets you take the pipe off the cylinder without cutting it. That makes draining down or swapping the cylinder much easier.
Should I seal the cylinder thread?
Yes, use PTFE tape or a thread sealant on the male thread. The union itself seals on its own faces and needs nothing extra.
Can I solder the union while it is on the cylinder?
It is better to solder the loose half off the cylinder. That keeps heat away from the boss and the insulation.
