End Feed Male Elbows take copper pipe in a soldered socket and turn it through 90 degrees to finish in a male thread, so the pipe can screw directly into a female socket, for example a valve, a tank boss or an appliance inlet.
End Feed Male Elbows by size
The pipe size comes first in each code. On domestic jobs, 15mm x 1/2″ is the usual pick. 22mm x 3/4″ and 28mm x 1″ suit larger valves and connections. The 35mm x 1.1/4″, 42mm x 1.1/2″ and 54mm x 2″ sizes are for commercial work and plant rooms.
A useful tip: screw the elbow into the female socket first, sealed with PTFE or compound, and get it pointing the right way. Then solder the pipe. If you must solder first, wait until it is cool before sealing the thread, because heat ruins thread sealant.

Common Questions
End Feed male elbow: thread first or solder first?
Thread first if you can, sealed and pointing the right way, then solder the pipe with the heat kept back from the thread.
Where is the 15mm x 1/2″ used?
On domestic valves, tank bosses and appliance inlets with a 1/2″ female thread.
Can heat damage the thread seal?
Yes. If the thread is already sealed, wrap it with a wet cloth and keep the flame on the socket.
