How do I load a cartridge into a sealant gun?
Pull the plunger rod fully back, drop the cartridge into the frame and push the rod forward until it touches the base. Cut the nozzle and the tip of the cartridge, then squeeze gently to start the flow.
What angle should I cut the sealant nozzle?
Around 45 degrees works for most bath and basin joints. Start with a small opening, since you can always cut more off but cannot put it back.
Can I use this gun for frame sealant and grab adhesive?
Yes, it takes the common cartridge size used for silicone, frame sealants and many adhesives. Check the cartridge length matches the frame before you buy a new product.
Getting a clean finish: Glasgow trade advice
Old sealant must come off completely before new goes on, as new silicone will not bond well to old. Clean the joint, dry it, and mask both sides with tape if you want a sharp line. Cut the nozzle small and work in one pass where you can. Smooth the bead, then pull the tape off before the sealant skins. Leave the bath or shower unused for as long as the sealant label says.
