When a 40mm waste pipe needs joining without glue, the FloPlast Compression Straight Coupler WC08 does the job. Each side of this white fitting grips the pipe with its own nut and seal.

Forty mil is the size for sinks, baths, showers and appliance wastes. This coupler joins two straight lengths in line. Because the joint is Compression, it is useful for tying new waste into an old run, and it can be undone later.

Square the pipe ends and deburr them. Fit the nut and seal, push the pipe in up to the stop and tighten by hand, then a little more. Check it does not twist the pipe out of line as you tighten.

After running water through, give the joint a look. A weep usually means the pipe was not pushed fully home.
