FloPlast MDPE Terminal Cap 20mm to 32mm

To seal off the end of a blue water pipe, fit a FloPlast MDPE terminal cap. It closes the pipe so it can be left live, or left ready for someone to connect later.

Uses for a FloPlast MDPE terminal cap

Builders often lay a supply to a plot or an extension before the house is ready. A cap on the end keeps dirt and water out of the pipe until it is needed. It is also used when an old supply is cut off and left in the ground, or when a branch to an outbuilding is no longer needed. It is for cold water only.

Cut the pipe end square and clean, and fit a liner first. Push the pipe fully home and hand tighten the nut. A cap on a live pipe has full mains pressure behind it, so test it before you backfill. Mark where it is buried, because whoever connects to it later will thank you.

Common Questions

Can a terminal cap be left on a live supply?

Yes, the cap holds mains pressure on the pipe end once the nut is tight. Test it under pressure before you backfill.

Can I take the cap off later?

Yes, it has a nut fitting, so it can be undone to extend the pipe. Cut back to clean pipe if the end is damaged.

What should I do before burying a capped pipe?

Mark the position on a plan or with a marker post. Whoever connects later will be glad of it.
