FloPlast Overflow Reducer – OS17 32mm

Getting a 21.5mm pipe into a basin-size waste is the job of the FloPlast Overflow Reducer OS17. It steps from a 32mm waste connection down to 21.5mm overflow pipe.

Where the FloPlast Overflow Reducer OS17 is used

Thirty-two mil is the size for hand basins, so this one gets used where a condensate pipe or small overflow is tied into a basin waste, or into a 32mm tee fitted for the job. The 21.5mm side takes overflow pipe with a Solvent Weld joint.

Keep the 21.5mm run falling continuously to the reducer. Low points collect water and, outside, can freeze. Cement the overflow joint with solvent cement and give it time to set before testing.

Check what the 32mm socket is, solvent or Push-Fit, and joint it to suit. Never put solvent cement on a Push-Fit seal. A condensate pipe joined into a basin waste should enter downstream of the trap, so smells cannot come back up the small pipe. Clip the overflow side close to the reducer to stop it levering on the joint.

Common Questions

Will the OS17 fit a Push-Fit waste socket as well as a solvent one?

Yes. FloPlast say the overflow reducers connect to both Solvent Weld and Push-Fit waste sockets, so joint each side to suit its system.

Where should a condensate pipe join a basin waste?

Downstream of the trap, so drain smells cannot travel back up the small pipe. Check the boiler maker’s instructions as well.

Can solvent cement go on the Push-Fit side?

No. Cement only goes on solvent joints, and a Push-Fit seal is fitted with silicone lubricant instead.
