For a 40mm bath, shower or sink waste going into a soil stack, the FloPlast Ring Seal Solvent Boss Adapter SP21 gives a Solvent Weld connection. It sits in a soil stack boss and provides a 40mm socket for ABS pipe.

Where the FloPlast Ring Seal Solvent Boss Adapter SP21 is used

Most bathroom and kitchen wastes are 40mm, so this is the adaptor you will use most on a solvent waste job. Boss pipes, strap bosses and branches with a boss outlet will all take it.

Seat the adaptor in the boss following the fitting instructions and hold it square while it sets. Glue the 40mm waste in afterwards.

Give the waste a steady fall into the stack. On baths and showers, the trap should sit where it can be reached for cleaning, so plan the run with that in mind.

Where you would rather have a joint that comes apart, a rubber Push-Fit boss adaptor does the same job without glue.

Common Questions

What is a boss adaptor? It lets a smaller waste pipe join a soil stack through a boss. The SP21 glues into the boss on 110mm soil fittings and gives you a 40mm solvent socket for the waste.

How do you fit a solvent boss adaptor? Set out the falls and mark everything first, as both joints are glued. Cement the adaptor into the boss, keep it square until it grabs, then cement the waste pipe in.

Can you remove a solvent weld boss adaptor? Not really, as solvent welded joints are permanent. If you’d like a joint you can undo, the SP11 rubber push-fit adaptor fits the same bosses.

Can I use push-fit waste pipe with it? No, push-fit pipe is polypropylene and solvent cement won’t bond to it. Use the SP11 rubber adaptor instead.

How long before I can use the waste? FloPlast advise 2 to 3 hours before short discharges and 24 hours before continuous flow.

Are there other sizes? Yes, there’s SP20 for 32mm and SP22 for 50mm alongside this 40mm SP21.
