To add a waste to a Solvent Weld soil stack that is already up, fit the FloPlast Solvent Soil Strap Boss SS319. You cut a hole in the 110mm pipe and strap the boss round it.

Fitting the FloPlast Solvent Soil Strap Boss SS319

It is the answer when a new shower or basin is added and the stack offers no free connection. You then fit a boss adaptor in the outlet to match the waste pipe.

Drill the opening with a hole saw of the stated size, then clear every bit of swarf and burr. Position the boss level and facing the waste, then tighten the strap evenly.

Run the waste with a steady fall into the boss. A short steep basin waste can siphon its trap, so an anti-siphon trap is worth a thought.

Check the boss for leaks with water running before boxing in. Keep the strap clear of any pipe socket, so it clamps onto plain pipe.

What is a strap boss? It’s a fitting that clamps round an existing 110mm soil stack to give you a new waste connection point. You don’t have to cut a section out of the stack, which makes it ideal when the stack is already in place.

What size hole do I cut for a strap boss? FloPlast give a 54mm hole in the soil pipe, so a 54mm hole saw does the job nicely. Tidy off any rough edges so nothing snags inside the stack.

How do I fit a FloPlast strap boss? Cut the hole, clean and degrease the pipe where the boss will sit, then solvent weld the SS319 in place with FloPlast SC125 or SC250 cement. Keep it away from any WC connection on the other side of the stack.

Do I need anything else to connect my waste pipe? Yes, you’ll need a boss adaptor to take the waste pipe into the boss. FloPlast do them for 32mm, 40mm and 50mm waste, sold separately.

Should I use a strap boss or a boss pipe? A strap boss suits a stack that’s already up, as it fixes onto the outside. A boss pipe is cut into the run, so it’s better for new work or when you’re rebuilding the stack anyway.
