Description

Every stainless run needs right angles, and the Geberit Mapress 316 Stainless Steel 90 Deg Elbow provides them with a press joint at each end. No welding, no threading, and no hot works.

Sizes of Geberit Mapress 316 Stainless Steel 90 Deg Elbow

  • 15mm and 22mm for smaller services
  • 28mm and 35mm for distribution runs
  • 42mm and 54mm for mains and risers
  • 316 Stainless steel, press sockets both ends

Pressing stainless takes seconds per joint compared with welding, which needs a skilled welder, gas purging and time. So press systems have become the normal choice on many commercial water and heating jobs. The joints can also be made in occupied buildings where hot works would cause problems. Because the elbow presses onto tube directly, you can make up a run quickly from straight lengths and fittings.

Make sure each cut is square, because an angled cut reduces the effective insertion. Remove every burr, then wipe the pipe end clean. Mark the depth, check the seal is there and in good condition, and push fully home. Position the elbow and press with the correct size jaw on an approved tool. If you are building a long run, support it as you go so pressed joints are not left carrying weight. Street elbows and 45s are also in the Geberit Mapress 316 stainless steel range.

Common Questions

Do 90 degree Mapress elbows need special jaws?

They use the same jaw as any other Mapress fitting of that size. What matters is that the tool and jaw are approved by Geberit for Mapress and calibrated, not the shape of the fitting.

Which size of elbow suits a washroom drop?

On most commercial drinking water jobs the final drops are 15mm or 22mm, while 42mm and 54mm are mains and riser sizes. Go by the pipe size on the drawings rather than the tap connection.

What happens if I forget to press one end?

Geberit build the fittings to leak when unpressed, so a missed end weeps as soon as you pressure test. Press it then, after checking the depth mark has not moved.
