HEATED CURVED CHROME TOWEL RAIL 500mm x 800mm – FHTR5/8

For a small bathroom or en-suite, the Heated Curved Chrome Towel Rail 500mm x 800mm is the most compact rail in our curved chrome range. It’s a ladder style rail with bars that bow outwards, which leaves room behind the towel for air to move.

Where it suits

This size works well in cloakrooms, en-suites and smaller shower rooms, where wall space is tight and a big rail would crowd the room. It will take a bath towel folded over or a couple of hand towels.

Bear in mind that chrome puts out less heat than a white painted rail of the same size. In a small en-suite that is rarely a problem, but in a cold, larger room a rail this size will mostly be for warming towels rather than heating the space.

Fitting it

• Measure the pipe centres on the rail and set your tails to suit before tiling, if you can.
• You’ll need a pair of radiator valves. Angled valves are neater if the pipes come up from the floor.
• Get the brackets level. A curved rail that’s off level stands out more than a flat one.
• Bleed the rail after filling, and wipe off any flux or fingerprints from the chrome.

If you want it warm with the heating off, ask at the counter about an electric element and a T-piece to run it dual fuel.

Common Questions

Is a 500mm x 800mm towel rail big enough for an en suite?

For warming and drying towels in a small en suite, usually yes. In a larger, colder room it will not do much heating on its own.

Can a chrome towel rail be painted?

Paint does not stick well to chrome, so it is not a good idea. If you want a coloured rail, buy one that is made that colour.

Should I fit the tails before tiling?

If you can, yes. Set the pipe tails to the rail’s centres before tiling so the valves line up without cutting tiles twice.
