The Honeywell T4 7 Day Programmable Wired Thermostat puts the timer and the room thermostat in one unit on the wall. It is wired in, and it controls on/off boilers and zone valves from 24V up to 230V.
What the Honeywell T4 7 Day Programmable Wired Thermostat can do
You can set a different programme for each day, run a 5/2 weekday and weekend pattern, or use the same schedule every day. There are four or six time and temperature settings to choose from. Optimum start learns how long the room takes to warm up, so it is warm on time without firing too early. Delayed start and optimum stop help save a bit more gas.

The volt free connection makes it handy on combination boilers, where it just breaks the boiler’s own thermostat circuit. It also works as a zone thermostat on an S plan plus system. Isolate the power before you open anything up, and follow the boiler’s wiring diagram. Mount it on an inside wall, away from radiators and draughts.

Will the Honeywell T4 work with my combi boiler?
On most on/off combis, yes, because the volt free contacts just switch the boiler’s own thermostat circuit. Check the boiler instructions for where to connect it.
What does optimum start do on the T4?
It learns how long the room takes to warm up and starts the heating early enough to reach the set temperature on time. That saves firing the boiler too soon.
Who should wire a wired thermostat?
On many systems it switches mains voltage. Isolate the power first and have it wired by someone competent with heating controls.
