The JG Speedfit MDPE Straight Coupler joins two lengths of blue MDPE water pipe of the same size. We list it in 20mm x 20mm, 25mm x 25mm and 32mm x 32mm on both our sites. 25mm is the usual size for a house supply. It suits plumbers, groundworkers and anyone fixing a split or damaged supply pipe.
It is push-fit at both ends, so you can make the joint down a trench without spanners. Cut the pipe square, clean it well, push an MDPE pipe insert into each end, then push the pipe fully home into the coupler. For a repair, cut out the damaged section and bridge the gap with a new length and a coupler at each end. It is for cold water only. Old imperial alkathene pipe is a different size, so it needs a converter rather than a straight coupler.

Common Questions
Is 25mm MDPE 25mm on the inside?
No. MDPE is sized by its outside diameter, so 25mm pipe measures 25mm across the outside. The bore is smaller.
How do push-fit MDPE fittings work?
Teeth inside the fitting grip the pipe and an O-ring seals it as you push it in. An insert in the pipe end keeps the pipe round so the grip and seal hold.
What is MDPE pipe used for?
Blue MDPE is the usual pipe for underground cold water supplies, such as the run from the boundary to a house or out to a garden or outbuilding.
How do you cut MDPE pipe?
Use plastic pipe cutters or a fine saw and cut it square. Take off any rough edges so the O-ring isn’t damaged going in.
