The JG Speedfit 15mm x 22mm Stem Coupler has a 22mm stem that plugs into any 22mm Speedfit socket and a 15mm push-fit socket, for stepping 22mm down to 15mm on copper or Speedfit barrier pipe. Collect from our Glasgow shop at 555 South Street G14 0QX.
The JG Speedfit 15mm x 22mm Stem Coupler is a reducer with a 15mm push-fit socket on one end and a 22mm plastic stem on the other, in white plastic. It’s for plumbers and heating engineers taking 15mm off 22mm Speedfit fittings without a stub of pipe.
The stem is the same outside size as 22mm pipe, so it plugs into a 22mm Speedfit tee, elbow or coupler exactly as pipe would. Say you have a 22mm tee on a heating main and want the branch to go off in 15mm: push the stem into the branch, run 15mm from the socket end, and that’s one less joint and no short tail of 22mm. It’s also neat where a 22mm cold feed drops to 15mm for a tap or cistern.
Push the stem fully into the receiving socket, to the 35mm stop, and lock that fitting’s cap. The 15mm socket takes copper as it comes, or Speedfit barrier pipe with a 15mm insert, pushed in to 30mm. The JG Speedfit 15mm x 22mm Stem Coupler can turn in its socket, so clip the 15mm pipe close. Tees and elbows in 22mm are in our JG Speedfit fittings and pipe section.

Common Questions
What is the stem end for? The stem is the same outside size as the pipe, so it pushes into the socket of another Speedfit fitting where a short offcut would otherwise go. It can swivel in that socket, which helps line things up in a tight corner.
Do I need an insert with this fitting? On Speedfit plastic barrier pipe, yes: push a 15mm Speedfit insert fully into each cut end before it goes in. Copper tube needs no insert. Speedfit only want their inserts used in their own pipe.
How much heat will 15mm pipe carry? Speedfit’s sizing table puts 15mm at about 5.9kW, based on a flow speed of 1.2m/s and an 11°C drop. Use that as a rough guide when you plan how many radiators a run can feed.
How do you take a Speedfit fitting off the pipe? Take the pressure off the system first. Turn the locking cap back until there’s a small gap at the body, press the collet ring evenly in towards the body and keep it held while you draw the pipe out. The fitting can go back on with no new parts.
