The JG Speedfit 28mm x 15mm Stem Reducer (PEM062815W) has a 28mm stem that pushes into any 28mm Speedfit socket and a 15mm push-fit socket for copper or barrier pipe. For 15mm take-offs on water and heating. Collect from our Glasgow shop at 555 South Street G14 0QX.
The JG Speedfit 28mm x 15mm Stem Reducer has a 28mm plastic stem on one end and a 15mm push-fit socket on the other, maker code PEM062815W. It’s for plumbers and heating engineers who need a 15mm take-off from 28mm pipework in one short fitting.
The 28mm end isn’t a socket. It’s a spigot the same size as 28mm pipe, so it pushes into the 28mm socket of a Speedfit tee, elbow or coupler, and the 15mm end takes your pipe. Because the stem sits in a push-fit socket, the joint can swivel to line up. A 28mm run is usually a main feed or a primary circuit, and this is the neat way to carry on in 15mm off the end of it, or off a 28mm equal tee when you don’t have the reducing tee in the van.
Push the stem fully into the receiving socket, which is 44mm deep on a 28mm Speedfit fitting, and lock that fitting’s cap. The 15mm socket takes copper, or barrier pipe with a 15mm insert. Clip the 15mm pipe close in, as the JG Speedfit 28mm x 15mm Stem Reducer can turn. Tees and couplers to take it are in our JG Speedfit fittings and pipe section.

Common Questions
What is the stem end for? The stem is the same outside size as the pipe, so it pushes into the socket of another Speedfit fitting where a short offcut would otherwise go. It can swivel in that socket, which helps line things up in a tight corner.
Do I need an insert with this fitting? On Speedfit plastic barrier pipe, yes: push a 15mm Speedfit insert fully into each cut end before it goes in. Copper tube needs no insert. Speedfit only want their inserts used in their own pipe.
Can it be used on central heating? Yes, on vented and sealed systems, where it’s rated at 3 bar with a short-term top temperature of 95°C. Speedfit want at least a metre of copper between the boiler and the first plastic joint, and none of it on an uncontrolled heat source such as a solid fuel range.
How do you take a Speedfit fitting off the pipe? Take the pressure off the system first. Turn the locking cap back until there’s a small gap at the body, press the collet ring evenly in towards the body and keep it held while you draw the pipe out. The fitting can go back on with no new parts.
