Common Questions
What is an adjustable P trap? It’s a trap where the outlet can be moved and set at different heights or angles, making it easier to line up with your existing waste pipe. The McAlpine ASA10 is a 1 1/4 inch (32mm) version for basins.
How do I adjust the height of a P trap? Loosen the nuts, slide or swivel the parts until the outlet lines up with the waste pipe, then tighten by hand. Run the tap afterwards to check for drips.
What is the difference between an S trap and a P trap? A P trap’s outlet comes out horizontally, usually going into a wall. An S trap turns down so the outlet goes vertically through the floor.
Can a P trap be angled? An adjustable trap like the ASA10 allows some movement, but it still needs to fall towards the drain so it empties properly.
