Description

The Mini Lever Ball Valve Elbow Compression x Compression combines a quarter turn valve with a 90 degree bend. Both ends take a Compression nut and olive, so it joins copper pipe without solder.

Where a Mini Lever Ball Valve Elbow Compression x Compression saves space

Put it where a pipe comes out of a wall or floor and turns towards an appliance. You save a separate elbow and a straight valve, so there are fewer joints to leak. It also tidies up a run under a sink or behind a boiler casing. The small lever is easy to reach with your fingers.

  • Sizes: 8mm and 10mm
  • Elbow pattern, 90 degree turn
  • Compression ends for copper pipe
  • Quarter turn mini lever

Before tightening, line the lever up so it can swing freely and you can see it later. Once the nuts are tight, the body will not turn without loosening them again. Use two spanners, one to hold and one to turn, so you do not twist the pipe. Plenty of other valve types are in our Valves and Control Devices section.

Common Questions

What is a mini ball valve? It’s a compact quarter-turn valve with a small lever, handy for shutting off a single small-bore pipe where there isn’t much room. This one is an elbow, so it isolates and turns the pipe through 90 degrees in one go.

How does a ball valve work? Inside there’s a ball with a hole through it. Turn the lever a quarter so the hole lines up with the pipe and water flows; turn it back and the solid side of the ball blocks the way.

Why would I use a ball valve rather than another type? A ball valve opens and shuts with a quick quarter turn, and the lever position tells you at a glance whether it’s on or off. That makes it a tidy choice for isolating a single run or appliance.

How do I install a mini ball valve elbow? Cut the pipe square and deburr it, slip on the nut and olive, push the pipe fully into the body and tighten. Do the same on the other side, then open the lever and check for weeps.

Will this suit 8mm and 10mm microbore pipe? Yes, this listing covers the small 8mm and 10mm sizes that microbore heating usually runs in. Measure your pipe before ordering, as the two look very alike.

Can I use it on a gas supply? The valve is listed as suitable for natural gas and LPG. Any work on a gas installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
