PolyPlumb MDPE Stopcock

The Polyplumb MDPE stopcock shuts off the water where a blue MDPE supply changes to copper. It does the isolation and the change of pipe in one fitting.

Fitting a Polyplumb MDPE stopcock

Most homes have the main stopcock just inside, often under the kitchen sink. If the old one is seized or the supply has been renewed in MDPE, this stopcock takes the MDPE in and puts copper out. For example, 25mm MDPE in and 22mm copper on to the rising main.

Fit an insert or stiffener in the MDPE end so it is not crushed. Cut the copper square and deburr it. Check which way the flow arrow points before you make the joints. Fit it where it can be reached in an emergency, and show the householder where it is. Turn it on slowly when refilling, so any air and debris can clear without hammering the pipes.
