What the Rothenberger standard basin wrench 10-32mm does
Basin and sink nuts sit in the dark, tight space between the bowl and the wall. A basin wrench has a long shank with a pivoting hook jaw at the top. You feed it up, the jaw locates on the nut and locks, and then you turn the bar at the bottom. It makes swapping taps much quicker than fighting with a spanner.
- Brand: Rothenberger
- Range: 10-32mm (3/8″ to 1 1/4″)
- Self-locating, self-locking hook
- Standard fixed length
Flip the jaw to suit tightening or loosening before you put it up behind the basin. Make sure it is square on the nut, then turn steadily. Penetrating oil helps on old corroded nuts. Use a torch so you can see what the jaw is gripping. For deeper reach, look at the telescopic version in our wrenches range.

Common Questions
What is a basin wrench used for?
Reaching up behind a basin or sink to tighten or undo the nuts on tap tails. A normal spanner cannot swing in that space.
How do I use a basin wrench?
Hook the jaw over the nut, and it grips harder as you turn. Flip the jaw over to switch between tightening and undoing.
Standard or telescopic basin wrench?
The standard is a fixed length that suits most basins. Go telescopic if you work under deep sinks, baths or vanity units.
