Description

Fitted in copper, a Single Check Valve Compression x Compression allows water to pass one way only, with a Compression joint at each end. If the flow tries to reverse, the check closes.

Fitting a Single Check Valve Compression x Compression

Single checks are often used on the feeds to mixer taps and shower valves, so hot and cold cannot push into each other. They also stop backflow on some appliance feeds and circuits. The Compression ends mean you can fit one into copper pipe with spanners only. The 28mm size is useful on larger feeds.

  • Sizes: 15mm, 22mm and 28mm
  • Single check
  • Compression ends
  • Arrow marks the flow direction

Check the arrow before you tighten anything. Cut out a section of pipe the right length, slip the nuts and olives on and push the valve in. Tighten with one spanner on the body to stop it turning. On a hot supply, remember that a check valve can stop expansion water going back, so allow for it in the design. See our Valves and Control Devices for double checks.

Common Questions

Where does a single check valve go?

On supplies where water must not flow back, such as the cold feed to a mixer or a supply to an appliance. Water rules say what level of protection each point needs.

Can I fit it upright?

Most spring checks work in any position, but follow the arrow for flow direction. Fit it where you can get to it later.

Why did my check valve start to rattle?

Grit on the seat or high pressure can make the check flutter. Clean it or fit a new one, and look at the pressure if it keeps happening.
