A Solder Ring Stop End seals the open end of a copper pipe permanently, and we stock it in nine sizes from 8mm to 54mm. It is a copper cap with its own solder ring.
Where it goes
Use it to cap a dead leg when a radiator, basin or appliance comes out, or to blank off a branch for later.
Sizes available
- 8mm for microbore heating.
- 10mm for microbore and small feeds.

- 15mm for small bore water and heating.
- 22mm for main runs in a house.
- 28mm for larger flows and primaries.

Fitting tips
Drain the pipe fully, as any water left in it will stop the solder flowing. Cut it square, clean and flux the end and the inside of the cap, push it home and heat until a full ring of solder appears. Once cool, refill and check for weeps.

Common Questions
What is a stop end? It is a fitting that caps off the end of a pipe so nothing can flow out. This one is copper and is used to seal off water, oil or gas lines.
Do I need to add solder to a solder ring stop end? No, the solder is already built into the fitting. You just clean, flux and heat it.
How do I make the joint? Clean the pipe and inside the fitting with wire wool, add flux and push it on. Heat until you see a ring of solder all the way round the edge, then leave it to cool without throwing water on it.
Is the solder lead free? Yes, the fittings are made with lead free solder.
Can it be used underground? It is listed for above ground use, on hot or cold domestic and commercial systems.
