In one fitting, the Solder Ring Female Elbow 90 Deg combines a right angle bend with a change from soldered copper to a female thread. One end takes the pipe in a Solder Ring socket, and the other screws onto a male threaded fitting.
Where a Solder Ring Female Elbow 90 Deg fits
It saves a joint wherever a pipe has to turn and meet a male thread at the same time. Think of the connection onto a cylinder fitting, a boiler tail or a threaded valve tucked into a corner. The 15mm x 1/2″ is the common size on domestic water. The 22mm x 3/4″ and 28mm x 1″ suit heating and larger supplies.

Screw the elbow onto the male thread first, sealed with PTFE or paste, so you can set the angle. Then fit and solder the copper pipe, keeping a wet cloth round the threaded end to protect the sealant. Do not overheat it. Plain elbows and other threaded patterns are in our Solder Ring fittings.

Common Questions
Where would I use a female elbow?
It is handy on a male threaded outlet where the pipe has to leave at a right angle, such as a pump, valve body or tank fitting. It does the bend and the thread change together.
How tight should the threaded end be?
Tighten until firm and then a bit more to line the elbow up, but do not overdo it. Forcing a female fitting too far can split it.
Can I keep the heat off the thread?
Wrap a damp cloth round the threaded end while you solder. That protects any sealant on the thread and stops the fitting getting too hot to handle.
