A solder ring straight tap connector joins copper pipe in a straight line onto the male thread of a tap or valve tail. We list it in 15mm x 1/2 inch, 15mm x 3/4 inch and 22mm x 3/4 inch. It suits plumbers fitting new copper pipework up to basins, sinks and baths, and anyone who prefers a soldered joint to a compression one.
The pipe end has a ring of solder already built into the fitting, so you do not need to feed in extra solder. Clean the pipe and the inside of the fitting, flux both, push the pipe home and heat until a bright ring of solder shows all round the mouth. Leave it to cool on its own rather than throwing water on it. The other end is a nut that screws onto the tap tail with a fibre washer to seal it. The listing states the fittings are made with lead free solder.

Common Questions
What is a straight tap connector? It joins the supply pipe to the threaded tail on the underside of a tap, in a straight line. This one is soldered onto copper pipe at one end and has a nut for the tap tail at the other.
What sizes does the solder ring tap connector come in? We list 15mm x 1/2 inch, 15mm x 3/4 inch and 22mm x 3/4 inch.
Do I need to add extra solder? No, there is a ring of solder built into the pipe end. The fittings are made with lead free solder.
How does it seal on the tap tail? The nut screws onto the tap tail with a fibre washer inside to make the seal.
Should I solder it before or after connecting it to the tap? Before, if you can. Heat near the nut can spoil the fibre washer and harm the tap, so if it has to be done in place, keep the flame well away and shield the tap.
Can I cool the joint with water? No, let it cool down by itself. Wipe off any leftover flux once it is cool.
