The Swing Check Valve F x F has a hinged disc inside that swings open with the flow and drops shut if the flow reverses. Both ends are threaded female, for fitting onto male threaded pipe or fittings.
When to choose a Swing Check Valve F x F
There is no spring to push against, so a swing check causes very little loss of pressure. That suits low pressure and gravity systems, such as tank fed supplies and some heating circuits. It must go in the right way up, though. Most swing checks are designed for horizontal pipe, or vertical pipe with the flow going upward.
- Sizes: 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1.1/4″, 1.1/2″, 2″ and 2.1/2″
- Hinged swing disc
- Female thread both ends
- Low resistance to flow
Check the arrow and the orientation marks before you fit it. If it is installed on a downward flow pipe, the flap will hang open and do nothing. Seal the threads with tape or paste and tighten with a spanner on the body hex. Where it must go in at an odd angle, use a spring check instead. See all our Valves and Control Devices.

Common Questions
How does a swing check valve work?
A hinged disc swings open with the flow and drops back onto its seat when the flow reverses. It gives very little resistance when open.
Can a swing check go in a vertical pipe?
Only with the flow going upwards, and some makers say horizontal only. Check the valve’s instructions before fitting it on a riser.
Why does my swing check bang?
The disc slamming shut when flow stops is called check valve slam. A spring check closes faster and quieter in that spot.
