This Toilet Cistern Bottom Entry Float Valve Height Adjustable model fills a WC cistern from below and slides up or down to suit the cistern depth. A common replacement part at Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
If the water supply comes up through the floor of the cistern, the Toilet Cistern Bottom Entry Float Valve Height Adjustable type is the part you want. The valve sits upright inside the cistern, and its float shuts the water off once the level reaches the set point.
Fitting a Toilet Cistern Bottom Entry Float Valve Height Adjustable
Turn off the supply and flush the cistern empty. Undo the tap connector under the cistern, then the backnut, and lift the old valve out. Set the height of the new valve so the float clears the flush valve and the cistern lid. Feed the threaded tail down through the cistern hole with its washer, snug up the backnut, then reconnect the supply.
After that, open the supply gently and set the float until the water stops just below the overflow mark. Because the body telescopes, one valve covers a range of cistern depths. That makes it handy to keep in the van for call-outs.
- Bottom entry, so the supply comes in through the base
- Height adjustable body to suit different cisterns
- Adjustable float to set the water level
- Threaded tail with backnut for the cistern hole
Flush valves, washers and other spares are in our Cistern Fittings range.

Common Questions
Bottom entry float valve height: where should it be set?
Set it so the float moves freely without touching the flush valve and the top of the valve clears the lid. Then set the float so the water stops just under the overflow.
What connector do I need underneath?
Match the thread on the valve tail with a tap connector or flexible hose, and fit an isolating valve so the cistern can be shut off on its own.
Why does the cistern whistle while it refills?
Check the isolating valve is fully open rather than half shut, as a part closed valve can whistle. If the noise carries on, ask at the counter about a valve to suit your pressure.
