Foam Doughnut Washer 2″

The foam doughnut washer is the Ring Seal that sits between the outlet of a close coupled cistern and the back of the toilet pan. This one is the 2″ size, made from foam, and it squeezes down to seal the joint when the cistern is bolted on.

Why replace the foam doughnut washer

Once a doughnut has been squashed, it rarely seals as well again. So whenever the cistern comes off for a new valve or a pan swap, put a fresh one on. If water shows on the floor behind the toilet after flushing, a tired doughnut is one of the first things to check.

Measure the outlet on the flush valve first, because 1 1/2″ and 2″ are both common. Clean both surfaces of old seal and limescale. Fit the doughnut over the outlet, lower the cistern into place and tighten the bolts evenly so the seal compresses all the way round.

Fill and flush several times, then look and feel behind the pan for damp.
