The FloPlast ABS Solvent Waste Female Adaptor turns the end of a Solvent Weld waste run into a female threaded connection. One side takes the pipe in a solvent socket, and the other side screws onto a male threaded outlet.

Using a FloPlast ABS solvent waste female adaptor

It is the part to reach for when a waste pipe has to meet a threaded fitting instead of another socket. For example, some traps, tank outlets and appliance spigots carry a male thread. So the adaptor lets you go from that thread into plastic waste pipe. It is white, to match FloPlast Solvent Weld waste pipe and fittings.

Make the solvent joint first: cut the pipe square, deburr it, clean both faces and apply cement suited to ABS. Push in fully and hold for a few seconds. Then, once the joint has set, screw the threaded end on. Hand tight plus a little more is usually enough, because overtightening can crack a plastic thread. What would I connect a female adaptor to?

It screws onto a male threaded waste outlet or fitting, so the pipe can be cemented into the other end. Check the thread on the outlet is the same size as the adaptor.

Does the threaded joint need sealant?

Most plastic waste threads seal on a washer or seal, not on tape. Follow the instructions with the fitting, and do not use paste that may harm the plastic.

Should I cement or screw on first?

Cement the pipe into the adaptor first and let it set. Then screw the adaptor on, so twisting it does not disturb a wet joint.
