On a swap-out job, the FloPlast Telescopic P Trap 76mm Seal saves a lot of measuring, because the inlet leg slides up and down. That lets you meet a basin or sink waste at whatever height it sits, while the outlet still lines up with the pipe already in the wall.
Why choose a telescopic P trap
Basins get changed far more often than waste pipes. A new basin rarely puts its waste at the same height as the old one, and a fixed trap can leave you a few centimetres short. The telescopic inlet takes up that difference. The deep 76mm water seal gives good protection against drain smells, so it suits most domestic wastes that join a soil stack.
Getting it to seal: Glasgow counter advice
Set the outlet against the wall pipe first and make that Compression joint. Then slide the telescopic leg up to the basin waste, fit the washer and tighten the top nut by hand. Leave enough overlap in the sliding section so it does not pull apart if somebody knocks it. Check it after the first few uses, as plastic joints sometimes settle and need a small extra turn.

Common Questions
How much overlap should I leave in the telescopic leg?
Leave a good length of the sliding tube inside the trap body, so a knock does not pull it apart. Do not extend it to its very end.
Does the TP47T come in 32mm for a basin?
FloPlast list this telescopic P trap in 40mm only. For a basin, a 32mm telescopic bottle trap or pedestal trap does the same job.
Can I cut the telescopic tube shorter?
If it is too long to close up, it can be trimmed square with a fine saw. Take off any burr so the seal is not damaged.
