Hep2O Barrier Pipe Coil 22mm

The Hep2O Barrier Pipe Coil 22mm is the workhorse size for heating mains and cold feeds. It is polybutylene with a built-in oxygen barrier, supplied in 25m or 50m coils.

Use it for 22mm heating flow and return around the house, the cold main from the stopcock, and bath and combi feeds where 15mm would restrict the flow. The oxygen barrier is what makes it the right choice on heating, and it is also suitable for hot and cold domestic water. A long coil threads through joists far more easily than lengths of copper, with fewer joints along the way.

Twenty-five metres usually covers a heating main in a flat. For a house, the 50m coil saves joining two shorter ones.

Cut at the printed ‘^’ marks with proper cutters, keep the end square and clean, and push a 22mm SmartSleeve in before it goes into a fitting. After pushing home, give it a pull back. Plastic pipe moves more with heat than copper does, so leave it a little slack and clip it well. Use an inhibitor on heating, barrier pipe or not.

Common Questions

Is 22mm Hep2O fine for a combi boiler feed?

Yes for the cold main and hot draw off, but check the boiler maker’s instructions. Many ask for a short length of copper straight off the boiler before any plastic.

Will 22mm plastic sag between clips?

Plastic droops more than copper, especially on hot runs. Clip it closer than you would copper and leave a little slack for it to grow as it heats.

How do I cut a 22mm coil cleanly?

Use plastic pipe cutters, not a hacksaw, and cut square on one of the printed marks. A ragged or angled end can damage the seal when it goes in.
