Description

A domestic cooker hose links a freestanding gas cooker to a bayonet socket on the wall. If you are after a gas cooker hose 1m long, the nearest is our 3ft, which is about 0.9m. We also list 4ft (about 1.2m) and 6ft (about 1.8m). It is for Gas Safe engineers fitting or replacing a cooker.

One end is a bayonet plug that clicks into the wall socket. The other screws onto the cooker inlet with a 1/2 inch BSP thread. With a bayonet fitting the cooker can be unplugged and pulled out for cleaning, and the socket shuts the gas off as the plug comes out. Pick a length that lets the cooker come out far enough without the hose being stretched, and without so much slack that it drags or kinks. Fit a stability chain or bracket too.

We keep cooker hoses on the shelf at our Glasgow counter. Collect from the shop, or order online.

Common Questions

Which length of cooker hose do I need?

Pull the cooker out to where you would clean behind it, then measure from the bayonet socket to the inlet. Choose the shortest hose that reaches without pulling tight, so it hangs in a loose loop.

Can I fit a gas cooker hose myself?

No. Connecting a gas appliance is gas work and must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. They will test the installation for tightness when it is done.

Do I need a stability chain?

Yes. A freestanding cooker on a flexible hose should have a stability chain or bracket. It stops the cooker tipping forward and stops it pulling on the hose.

Is a 3ft hose the same as 1m?

Close, but a little shorter. 3ft is about 0.9m and 4ft is about 1.2m, so measure before you choose.
