BS Gate Valve Copper x Copper 15mm to 54mm

BS pattern gate valves with compression ends from 15mm to 54mm. The heavier British Standard pattern, for gravity feeds, heating and commercial runs.

A gate valve lifts a wedge clear of the bore, so when it is open the water runs through with very little loss. That makes it the usual choice on low pressure gravity feeds from a cold water tank and on heating pipework.

Common Questions

Gate valve or stopcock?
A stopcock is made for mains pressure and has a flow arrow on the body. A gate valve opens to full bore and suits tank fed, low pressure supplies and heating. Use a stopcock on the incoming main.

Does a gate valve fit either way round?
Yes, a gate valve has no flow direction, so it can go in either way. Leave room to turn the wheel.

Why is my gate valve letting by?
Old gate valves wear on the wedge and seat, so they stop sealing fully. If a new washer or repacking the gland does not fix it, change the valve.
