A Compression DZR Female Elbow turns through 90 degrees and changes from copper to thread on the way: Compression on one end, a female BSP thread on the other. Its body is DZR brass, which resists losing its zinc in aggressive water.
Jobs for a DZR female elbow
Connecting copper to anything with a male thread where the pipe has to come in at a right angle. Think pump valves, boiler and cylinder connections, male-ended valves, and adaptors onto steel or other systems. With the range running up to 54mm x 2″, it also covers plant room work on larger pipe.

Glasgow fitting advice
Make the threaded joint before the Compression joint. Dress the male thread that screws in with PTFE tape or a thread sealant to suit the service, then tighten it so the elbow ends up pointing where you need it. Overshooting and backing off to line it up is how threaded joints start to weep. Once that is set, make the Compression end onto the copper.

Common Questions
DZR female elbow on a pump valve: which size?
Check the male thread on the valve. Many domestic pump valves have 3/4″ or 1″ threads, so the 22mm x 3/4″ or 22mm x 1″ is the usual pick on 22mm pipe.
Is there a washer inside the female end?
No, the thread joint is sealed with PTFE tape or paste on the male thread that goes in. Only tap and union connectors rely on a washer.
Can I fit it on a male thread that already has old sealant?
Clean the old tape or paste off with a wire brush first. Fresh sealant on a clean thread gives the best chance of a dry joint.
