Description

Compression Nut

Compression Nut used to secure pipework in a Compression fitting.

Compression Fittings

A spare nut lets you remake a Compression joint when the old nut is damaged. Match the nut to the pipe size and the fitting body, from 8mm to 54mm.

Compression fittings are especially advantageous in retrofit plumbing schemes, where the use of heat must be avoided. They are available in 8mm – 54mm and are suitable for connecting tubes in accordance with EN 1057 and many other standards.

Compression fittings are available in duplex brass and/or dezincification resistant (DZR) brass or as dezincification immune gunmetal. Fittings are also available nickel-plated or chrome-plated in accordance with EN 248.

Compatibility

Fittings are also compatible with connecting low carbon steel, stainless steel and many types of plastic pipe including cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) and polybutylene (PB) with size compatible outside diameters.

Fittings are manufactured from high-quality brass materials which ensure a permanently tight and secure connection, without the use of special tooling or additional sealant. These fittings are suitable for connecting a wide range of tubes, including copper tubes in accordance with EN 1057, carbon steel to EN 10305, stainless steel to EN 10312 and plastic pipes to BS 7291, EN 15875 and EN 15876.

Compression fittings are tested and approved, for use with drinking water up to 108mm and for gas applications up to 28mm. Tested and certified by independent European certification bodies such as WRAS- Water Regulations Advisory Scheme confirming its suitability and reliability for

Compression Fittings are an easy to use the heat-free system, and excellent for repairs, and in applications where ongoing maintenance is envisaged

The mechanical nature of Compression joints is well-proven technology that is extremely robust and resilient.

Available as single units or individually bagged.

All our Compression Fittings are WRAS approved.

Common Questions

What is a compression nut? It is the threaded nut that slides onto the pipe and screws onto the fitting body. Tightening it squeezes the olive onto the pipe to make the seal.

Can I reuse a compression nut? Usually yes, if the thread is in good shape. The olive is normally replaced once it has been squeezed onto a pipe.

Does a compression fitting need PTFE tape? No, the olive makes the seal, so the nut thread does not need tape or extra sealant.

Can I use compression fittings on plastic pipe? Yes, on plastic pipe with the same outside diameter, such as PE-X or polybutylene. Fit a pipe insert first so the olive has something firm to grip.

Can compression fittings be used on gas? They are approved for gas up to 28mm. Gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

What size compression nut do I need for 15mm pipe? A 15mm nut, as compression sizes go by the pipe’s outside diameter. Make sure it matches the 15mm fitting body too.

Can I swap a nut between different brands? Nuts do not always fit other makers’ bodies, so replace it with one that matches the fitting and its thread.
