The Eden TRV 15mm in the straight pattern suits pipework that comes out of the wall straight into the radiator. Its thermostatic head keeps a room at the level you set. Collect it from Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
Use the Eden TRV 15mm straight valve where your heating pipe runs horizontally along the wall or comes out of it and goes straight into the rad tail. There is no bend in the body, so the pipe, the valve and the radiator inlet all sit on one line.
Where the straight Eden TRV 15mm fits best
Straight valves are common in older flats and tenements where pipes were run along the skirting rather than through the floor. They also suit rads hung low on a wall with the feed coming from the side. If the pipe comes up from the floor instead, the angled version is the one to look at.

The head has a sensor that expands with heat and slowly closes the valve as the room reaches the number you have chosen. That means each room can be set on its own, for example cooler bedrooms and a warmer living room. Fit it on the flow side unless the valve is marked as two way, and keep the head clear of curtains or it will read the wrong temperature.

Common Questions
Why is my room still cold with the TRV turned up?
Check the rad is hot at the top first, since trapped air or sludge stops heat getting through. If the pin under the head is stuck down, the valve stays closed whatever number you choose, so take the head off and free the pin gently.
Do I need a TRV on every radiator?
Most rads benefit from one, but the room with the wall thermostat should have a rad with no TRV, or one left fully open. That way the thermostat and the valve are not working against each other.
Does a straight TRV go on the flow or the return?
Put it on the flow pipe, which is the one that warms up first when the heating starts. Only fit it on the return if the valve is marked as bidirectional.
