When you need a FloPlast ABS solvent waste male adaptor

Plastic waste does not always end in another solvent socket. A tank connector, a threaded boss or some traps take a male thread, so this adaptor bridges the gap. It saves fiddling with mixed systems, as the solvent side matches FloPlast ABS waste pipe. The white finish blends in with the rest of the run.

Cut the waste pipe square and take off any burr. Clean the pipe and socket, then use a solvent cement made for ABS and push the pipe fully home. Give the joint time to set before you put any strain on it. Wrap the male thread with PTFE tape if the fitting it goes into needs it, and tighten by hand first. A male adaptor screws into a female threaded fitting. A tank connector goes through a hole in a tank or cistern wall and is clamped with a backnut and washers.

How tight should a plastic thread be?

Hand tight plus a small turn is usually enough. Plastic threads crack if forced, and an overtightened fitting can leak just as much as a loose one.

Will it fit a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch thread?

Waste threads are made in matching sizes to the pipe, but check the fitting you are joining to before buying. If unsure, bring the part into the shop and match it up.
