FloPlast MDPE pipe liners sit inside the end of the pipe and hold it round while the fitting grips the outside. Without one, the plastic can squash, and that is how slow leaks start underground.
Why fit FloPlast MDPE pipe liners
MDPE is soft compared with copper. When a fitting tightens down on it, the pipe wall needs support from the inside. A liner gives that support, so the seal stays tight for years. It is a small part, but you need one in every pipe end you fit.

After a square cut, press or lightly tap the liner in until its lip rests against the end of the pipe. Make sure it is the right size for the pipe, not just the fitting, because 25mm and 32mm look alike in a trench. Always check the fitting maker’s instructions, since some fittings come with their own insert. Keep a few spare in the van, because they are easy to drop in the mud.

Common Questions
Do MDPE fittings always need a liner?
Fittings that grip the outside of the pipe need one so the wall cannot collapse. Some fittings come with their own insert, so check the maker’s instructions.
How do I fit a pipe liner?
Cut the pipe square, then push or lightly tap the liner in until its lip sits on the pipe end. Use the size that matches the pipe.
Can I reuse an old liner?
It is better to fit a new one each time. A used liner may be distorted and will not support the pipe properly.
