How do I make the ring seal joints? Clean the socket, put silicone lubricant on the seal and push the pipe right in, then pull it back about 10mm to leave room for expansion. Line the branch up with the pan connector before you bracket it.

Does a soil stack need a vent? Yes, the stack needs ventilating so the traps aren’t sucked dry. That’s usually an open vent above the roofline, or an air admittance valve where Building Regulations allow it.
