Why fit the FloPlast Seal Ring Vent Terminal SP302

A soil stack that vents through the roof or above the eaves needs a terminal on top. Without one, nesting material or leaves eventually end up down the stack, and that is an unpleasant blockage to clear. This one pushes on with a Ring Seal.

Cut the pipe square and chamfer it so it slides into the seal cleanly. Silicone lubricant helps it go on.

Check the height of the vent above the roof and its distance from windows, because the building regulations set limits.

On an exposed roof where rain down the stack is a worry, a hooded cowl may suit better. Fit the terminal last, after the weathering slate and collar, so nothing needs to be taken off again.

Common Questions

What does a soil vent terminal do? It caps the open top of the soil vent pipe so air can still move freely, while birds, squirrels and leaves are kept out. Without one, nesting material can end up blocking the stack.

Why does a soil pipe need a vent? Venting lets air into the stack as waste runs down, which stops traps being sucked dry, and lets foul air escape well away from windows.

How do I fit the SP302? Cut the pipe end square, chamfer it and wipe on a little silicone lubricant, then push the terminal on so the seal doesn’t roll. There’s no solvent needed.
