FloPlast Solvent Cement 250ml is the larger tin for Solvent Weld waste and soil work in PVC and ABS. Enough for a full bathroom run, available from Plumb Parts at our Glasgow counter or online.
For jobs with a lot of joints, FloPlast Solvent Cement 250ml is the bigger tin of Solvent Weld cement, for example a full bathroom of waste runs or a stretch of soil pipe. It chemically welds plastic pipe into its fitting, so the finished joint cannot be pulled apart.
Working with the 250ml FloPlast tin
Prep matters more than the cement. Cut square, deburr, and wipe off dust and grease. Then coat the pipe end and the socket with the brush in the lid and push the pipe fully in. Hold it still for a moment, because a joint that moves while it grabs can leak later.
Leave the cement to set before you put any load on the pipe, and allow several hours before a water test. The tin gives the times for the temperature you are working in. Cold weather slows it down, so allow longer in winter.
The full range of glues sits under Adhesives.

Common Questions
How many joints will a 250ml tin of solvent cement do?
It depends on the pipe size, but a 250ml tin covers a good number of small waste joints, enough for a full bathroom. Larger soil pipe joints use far more per joint.
Does solvent cement go off in the tin?
Yes, it thickens once air gets in. Keep the lid tight between joints and do not use cement that has turned stringy or jelly-like.
Can I Solvent Weld in cold weather?
You can, but it takes longer to set, so leave extra time before handling and testing. Keep the tin somewhere warm before you start.
