FloPlast Solvent Weld Waste Pipe 40mm

FloPlast Solvent Weld Waste Pipe 40mm is ABS pipe for the waste from baths, showers and kitchen sinks. Both our sites list this 40mm waste pipe in 1m, 2m and 3m lengths, in white, black or grey. The shorter lengths save buying a full pipe for a quick trap to wall job. It suits plumbers and DIY fitters alike.

It joins to FloPlast ABS solvent weld fittings with FloPlast SC125 or SC250 solvent cement, and the joints are permanent once set. Cut the pipe square with a pipe cutter or fine saw and clean the burr off inside and out. Cement the pipe end and the fitting socket, push them together and hold for a few seconds. Run it with a steady fall to the stack, a boss or an outside gully, and clip it often enough that it doesn’t sag. FloPlast say continuous discharge should not be hotter than about 70 to 75°C.

What’s the best way to cut solvent weld waste pipe? A plastic pipe cutter or a fine-toothed saw is ideal. Keep the cut square so the pipe sits fully in the socket, and clean off any burr before you glue.

Can I take a solvent weld waste joint apart once it’s made? Not really, as the joint is permanent once the cement sets. If you need to change something, cut the pipe out either side and fit new pieces.

Can solvent weld waste pipe be connected to compression waste fittings? Yes, a 40mm compression waste fitting will go onto this pipe and can be undone later if you need access. Just make sure the fitting is the same pipe size.

Can I solvent weld push-fit waste pipe? Generally no. Push-fit waste is normally polypropylene, which solvent cement won’t bond, so stick to push-fit fittings on that and use solvent weld fittings on this ABS pipe.
