FloPlast Telescopic Pedestal Trap 32mm to 40mm

A FloPlast Telescopic Pedestal Trap is shaped to hide inside the pedestal of a bathroom basin. The telescopic leg slides to bridge the gap between the basin waste and the outlet pipe, so the trap stays tucked out of sight behind the pedestal.

Fitting a pedestal trap in a bathroom

Pedestal basins leave very little room for a standard bottle trap, and the outlet usually has to come out low through the wall behind. A pedestal trap is built for that shape of space. It is common on full bathroom refits, and on cloakroom suites where the pedestal hides all the pipework. The sliding section also helps when a new basin sits at a different height from the old one.

Most basins take 32mm waste, but if the run out of the room is 40mm, the 40mm trap avoids an extra reducer.

Fitting order

Fit the basin waste and the trap before the basin goes onto the pedestal for good, because space gets very tight afterwards. Make the outlet joint to the wall pipe first, then extend the telescopic leg to the waste and tighten the top nut by hand. Set the pedestal in place, check that nothing is pressing on the trap, and fill the basin to test. A torch and a mirror help you look for drips behind the pedestal.
