Closing a pipe end on a stainless press system is done with the Geberit Mapress 316 Stainless Steel End Cap. It presses onto the tube like any other fitting and seals the end off.
When to use a Geberit Mapress 316 Stainless Steel End Cap
Use one to cap a branch left for future use, close off a dead leg during alterations, or blank a run that has been cut back. It is also handy on phased jobs, where a floor is piped up and capped until the next stage. Remember that long capped dead legs on drinking water systems can let water stagnate, so keep them as short as you can.

Prepare the pipe end in the usual way: square cut, deburred and clean. Mark the depth, push the cap fully on and press with the jaw for that size. Because a cap takes the full pressure on its face, make sure the pipe is well supported and anchored near the end. On larger sizes, an unanchored cap can try to push the pipe along when the system is filled. Couplings and tees are in the Geberit Mapress 316 stainless steel section if you need to extend the run later.

Common Questions
Can an end cap be taken off later?
No, a pressed cap is permanent. To extend the run later, cut the cap off behind the socket and fit a coupling.
Is a capped branch a problem on drinking water?
It can be. Long dead legs let water stand still, so keep any capped branch on a drinking water system as short as you can.
Does a large cap need extra support?
Yes, a cap takes the full system pressure on its face. Anchor the pipe near the cap on 76mm, 89mm and 108mm so it cannot move when filled.
