Description

On a pressed stainless line, the Geberit Mapress 316 stainless steel straight union pressfit gives you a joint that can be split again. Both pipes press into the fitting, and the union nut in the middle lets you break the joint with spanners.

Using a Geberit Mapress 316 stainless steel straight union pressfit

Press joints are permanent, which is fine for most of a run. But meters, pumps, water heaters and filters all need to come out at some point. So you put a union either side, and the kit can be lifted out without cutting pipe. That also means a quicker job for whoever services it next.

  • Sizes: 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm and 54mm
  • Straight pattern, Press-Fit on both pipe ends
  • Union in the centre so the joint can be undone
  • Part of the Mapress stainless range in 1.4401 steel

Leave yourself enough room for a spanner on the nut when you set out the run. Make up the union first, line both pipes through, then mark the depth and press each side. If a pipe has been missed, the system shows it as a leak on the pressure test, because unpressed Mapress joints are not sealed.

Common Questions

What is a straight union pressfit used for?

It joins two stainless pipes with a union in between, so the run can be split later without cutting. Put one next to a meter or filter that will need to come out.

Can I undo it under pressure?

No. Close the valves either side and drain that section first, then crack the nut slowly with a cloth ready for the water left in the pipe.

Is there a bigger union than 54mm?

Not on this listing, which stops at 54mm. On larger stainless pipe a flanged joint is the usual way to make a break point.
