An internal flush cone black seal, which fits inside the inlet of a toilet pan to seal the flush pipe joint. A quick cure for a leak at the back of the WC. Supplied by Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
An internal flush cone black seal fits inside the inlet horn of a toilet pan and grips the flush pipe that comes down from the cistern. When the old one perishes, you see a puddle behind the pan after every flush.
Fitting the internal flush cone black
Some pans take a cone over the outside of the horn, but many need one that pushes inside. Check which you have before you buy. This internal type sits inside the pan’s inlet and the flush pipe slides into its centre.
- Black cone
- Pushes inside the pan inlet
- Makes the flush pipe joint watertight
- For high and low level cisterns
Remove the old cone and scrape out any residue. Push the new one into the inlet so it sits evenly. A smear of washing up liquid helps the flush pipe slide in without dragging the rubber. Once fitted, flush a few times and check with tissue that the joint stays dry.
Getting the flush pipe square to the pan helps the cone seal properly, so adjust the pipe brackets if needed.
A clear version and an external cone are also listed in our cistern fittings range.

Common Questions
Is the black cone any different from the clear one?
They do the same job and fit the same way. The colour only changes how it looks once fitted.
How do I get the flush pipe in without the cone folding over?
Wet the inside with a little washing up liquid and push the pipe in with a slight twist. If the cone rolls over, pull the pipe out and start again.
Why does the joint drip after fitting?
The flush pipe may be sitting at an angle and opening a gap on one side. Line the pipe up straight with the pan inlet and tighten its brackets.
