Isolation Service Valve Chrome 15mm to 22mm

With an Isolation Service Valve Chrome at the tap, a dripping washer or a tired cartridge is a five-minute job. The valve has a nut that screws onto the tap tail and an in-line pipe connection below, with an isolating valve in between and a chrome finish.

Choosing an Isolation Service Valve Chrome

The 15mm x 1/2″ size suits basin taps, kitchen taps and cistern fill valves with 1/2″ tails. The 22mm x 3/4″ size suits bath taps with 3/4″ tails on a 22mm feed. This is the straight pattern, so it suits pipe that comes straight up to the tap.

Seat the washer and run the nut onto the tail. Make the pipe joint after that, holding the valve body so the tap does not turn. Use a cloth under the spanner to keep the chrome unmarked.

Bath pillar taps usually have 3/4″ tails on 22mm pipe, so take the 22mm x 3/4″. A kitchen sink or basin tap is normally 1/2″ on 15mm pipe.

How tight should the tap nut be?

Hand tight plus a small nip with a spanner is enough with a good washer. Over tightening splits washers and can crack a ceramic basin.

Can I change a washer without draining the house?

Yes, that is the point of a service valve. Turn the slot a quarter so the tap is isolated, and the rest of the house keeps its water.
